FEED

After experiencing the book Feed, I feel that it really demonstrated and painted a picture of what our world could possibly end up like. Its so sad that the people in the book lost their sense of personality. Its like they were dehumanized by the feed. They had no emotions or comprhension of feelings. they were just brainwashed. It really got to me at the end when Violet was dying and Titus was in the room with her and he was trying to express his love. He was trying to explain to her their love story. But when doing ths, it sounded like a preview for a movie, like an advertisement. he had not one original thought for himself. He even said that their love was rated PG 13?!?! wow. He started to cry and he said it was the first time he has cried? What kind of world is that to live in where you dont experience emoitons, passion, and a yearning for life? The feed was supposed to be a good thig where knowledge and learning was more efficient but instead it turned into a deadly monter that dehumanzied civilization.

I was wondering how you all might respond to this ending. Is it sincere...or is it just another example of how media has taken over their lives. Are they even able to express love sincerely?

  2. I agree completely that they were dehumaized by the feed. Any where, any time, anything that they were doing the feed was present and giving them information rather then letting them do it themselves. It jus shows how technology has taken over our lives and we use and need it all the time. I think that we shoudl get Titus and his whole little gang to try to do the Thoreau experiment and see hwo that works!! Yea, like that woudl ever last!!

  3. I really like the way that you described it as dehumanizing. I think that that is a very good way to describe it. It just feels like there are more risks with having the feed physically and emotionally. It is just down right wrong and i couldn't even to begin to think about living a life like that, where something else, a computer, is doing all of the thinking and feeling for you.

  4. I agree completely, the feed led to no emotion which is a big deal. Not feeling any emotions for anyone or anything is a completely useless life.

  5. I agree with what u have presented. This is how I feel about the book also. Why is it that the people in the book dont express no type of emtions or show excatly how they feel. This makes people seen fake or straight like a commerical, that dont show any type of feelings. This makes a person seen like there isnt no purpsoe to the world.
